About/Submissions

Welcome to The Writer’s Advocate! My goal is to provide you with a mix of original and “found” content relevant to the publishing world, and to host lively discussions (comments very much encouraged.) I’ve included a sampling of my literary tastes in the left sidebar, and would recommend picking up a book or two. In addition to the sheer enjoyment of reading a great book, you’ll also get a better idea of the types of writing and stories that I prefer. I’ve also included some music for your listening pleasure while you read the blog!

I’m a native of Buffalo, New York and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Starting in publishing as an intern for Zachary Shuster Harmsworth, I joined Victoria Sanders & Associates in May 2008. According to my Mom, I’ve had a book with me ever since I could hold one. From the Hardy Boys Mysteries and Goosebumps, to Kurt Vonnegut and Ernest Hemingway, my passion for literature has always been strong. I have very eclectic interests, and I’m open to most types of books as long as the writing is exceptional. At the moment, I’m not seeking children’s, young adult, or self-help.

We are actively looking for new clients at Victoria Sanders & Associates. Be sure to read the bios for our agents. If you think Victoria Sanders or Tanya McKinnon would be a better fit for your project, read these submission guidelines and send your query to queriesvsa[at]hotmail.com. If you’d like to send me a query letter, email it to thewritersadvocate[at]gmail.com. I prefer writers include the first three chapters (or about twenty-five pages) pasted into the body of the email. Please don’t send your query to more than one agent within our agency.

If you have any questions or ideas for topics you’d like to see discussed, please use the comments section of any post to let me know. Thanks for stopping by!
